Mark Hemmingson has been creating stained glass since 1996 when he started doing repairs in his antique store on Main Street in Vancouver. He has mounted windows in private homes and public buildings across Canada and the US.

I work in stained glass because I love the mixture of light and colour, and the harmony of lines that holds it all together. As an artist I look for projects that are interesting and compelling, whether in residential or public settings.

The pictures below represent the kind of work I've done, and should give you an idea of I can do for you. A more complete portfolio is available by appointment.

This Art Deco window is part of a larger door and transom. It was designed from historical source materials and adapted to the space at hand. The diamond pattern in the drawing was carried out in other parts of the larger piece.

I also like to work in more traditional English styles of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many windows built in Canada around that time came directly from England, or come out of that tradition. The variations of design are endless. I can purchase period glass to add authenticity to these kinds of windows. And, I have lots of reference material.

The Art Nouveau piece below is extremely adaptable to a variety of settings. The colour of the background glass can change. There can be a border, or no border. In this piece the arch spans three windows and the flowing lines cross the space freely to tie it all together.

Unfortunately the lighting was poor for this picture, so I took out the doors. Nonetheless, it depicts a more contemporary approach to a transom.

These windows are set in a sealed unit of tempered glass. I don't provide sealed units, but I can assist in a referal.

I hope this gives you a taste of what I do. If you're interested in glass, I offer a free consultation in my home studio where we can talk about design, and refer to glass samples and other relevant resources. This gives me an opportunity to explore the project and see if we're on the same page.

Please note, I do not do nature imagery such as hummingbirds and mountain scenes. My areas of specialty run more along the lines you see here; Traditional English, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Contemporary Architectural.

Please make an appointment for a full view of my portfolio. Thanks. Mark. 250-675-3623
