In our work we try to achieve simplicity in modern life. We have chosen glazes that give a feeling of heritage, as well as contemporary qualities. Reds, blacks and creams accentuate classic pottery designs.

Collaborating is a big part of our process in the studio. One way we do this is by hand building together. Here we use large slabs of clay to create platters and other serving dishes. Since the beginning of 2007 we have been placing more emphasis on this way of making pottery, and it has produced some exciting results. Often we have an rough idea that we “workshop” for a day, trying whatever comes to mind as a way of achieving an original look.

While we both work on our own on the wheel, there is lots of discussion about what looks good and what could be improved on. As often as possible, we also take time to ourselves, and create whatever we like. This keeps the work fresh and interesting. It is where we get our best ideas, and our work has grown since we have chosen this method.
