Here are a few tips to help you care for your wares.
Washing
Like any pottery, commercial or handmade, it’s okay to put your mugs and bowls in the dishwasher, but your wares will last longest when hand washed. To remove stains use baking soda and a soft nylon ‘scrubby’. Baked-on-food will come clean with regular dish soap, and it helps to let it soak before washing.
Ovenware
Keep in mind that pottery does not like sudden temperature changes, therefore, any pottery you cook in should be at room temperature when placed in the oven. Do not pre-heat the oven. The pottery needs to heat up with the oven. Spread the food evenly throughout the pot, as in a casserole. This ensures even heat distribution, and keeps the pot in balance as the oven temperature rises. When removing pottery from a hot oven, place it onto a room temperature surface such as a wood trivet, or wood cutting board. Cool granite counter tops are not a good surface to place hot casseroles on. The same applies for cooking in the microwave.
Microwave
We routinely re-heat food and drinks in the microwave with no ill effects to the pottery.
We hope our pottery brings you much joy, and adds pleasure to your everyday life.
